Options/ Opciones

AUDIENCE- Parents

SERVICE- Language Instruction for providing personal information, surviving a doctor's visit, and talking about your stressors!

PURPOSE- Teach them Survival Spanish

The Problem...

Your parents have been asked by OXFAM to work as missionaries in Latin America to provide aid.

They need the "short course" in Spanish basics. And you will only have 6-8 minutes to train them on the following:

  • They need to learn how to provide personal information, talk about aches and pains, and notify the Missions coordinator for Latin America, Pastor Rodolfo Iglesias (who speaks only Spanish) when the situation becomes too stressful or they need something.

Before their applications for the missionary work are accepted, they will need to pass a short language test provided by Mr. Vaughn

Getting at the Problem: Choose 1 of the following!!!!

  • Pecha-Kucha Power Point  Providing Personal Information (Ser and Estar)
  • TPR Simulation- With props and tpr teach your parents (Partes del Cuerpo y enfermedades)
  • The Drama Diorama- Act out a conversation you have written where one student tells another they are stressed out? Then have parents rehearse the conversation.  (Stress vocabulary and expressing need vocabulary)
  • Idea Extrema: If none of the above appeal to you, you may decide a topic and may use one of the following to represent-to-learn.
      • You Tube Video (Watch the time!)
      • Song
      • Visual Guide on...
      • Program a learning game using FLASH, etc.
